SUMMARY: Event Picnic Point Planting Event
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Olympic Fly Fishers of Edmonds and conservation advocates from your local community invite you to join us on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., as we continue to restore and improve the marine habitat at Picnic Point Beach.

Representatives from the Snohomish County Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will be on hand, along with Picnic Point Forest Stewards.

Volunteers will plant mock orange, salal, and other native vegetation along the beach in areas cleared during previous conservation events. Time permitting, we may also continue the ongoing removal of blackberry and ivy in our work area, depositing it onto existing compost piles. It will then be spread onto exposed soil as mulch later this spring.

A healthy, pest-free wooded beach will cool down stream temperatures, provide a healthy habitat for birds and fish, and slow down erosion.

This event is open to the public. All ages and levels of ability are welcome.

Please help us spread the word and share this event with anyone you think may be interested. Then join us in February as we work to restore one of our area’s most vital aquatic ecosystems.
