Lord Hill Regional Park - Weeding at Steamshovel Trail …08/04/2024
Activities
We're starting with a small, former patch of blackberries at Lord Hill to start building a healthy forest! Join Healthy Forest Project staff and other volunteers to clear blackberries off the Steamshovel Trail at Lord Hill. Blackberry bushes have created large, dense thickets that displace the native forest plants and the animals that rely on them. Clearing blackberry and other weeds is the first step to creating a healthier forest for all to enjoy at Lord Hill!
When we plant here this winter, we'll create a patch of healthier forest to expand over time, but we need your help. For more information, contact the organizer.

What to Bring
Please wear long sleeves and long pants that you don't mind getting dirty, and sturdy, close-toed shoes. Bring a full water bottle and a snack. Hand tools and gloves will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish. Remember to bring rain gear if rain is in the forecast.
Remember that high heat and smoke season in WA may be in full swing. To protect yourself, drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, and consider wearing an N95 mask while exerting yourself outside. There is not much shade at this work site, so please take the necessary precautions to have a fun time with us!
If the temperature is above 90 degrees Fahrenheit or the air quality index is above 151, this event will be cancelled.
